Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Glazier with a focus on commercial glass installation and repair. This position involves working on a variety of commercial projects, including storefronts, curtain wall systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial glazing systems, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to jobsite safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and install glass and glazing materials in commercial applications according to specifications.
- Install aluminum framing systems, curtain walls, storefronts, and window wall systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications for large-scale commercial builds.
- Remove and replace broken or outdated glass and metal components in existing commercial structures.
- Use hand and power tools to cut, grind, polish, or install glass, aluminum framing, and structural sealants.
- Apply weatherproofing materials such as sealants and gaskets to ensure air and water tightness.
- Handle and maneuver large glass panes and metal components using suction cups, cranes, or mechanical lifts.
- Collaborate with general contractors, site supervisors, and architects to execute work efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Follow OSHA standards and site-specific safety protocols, including use of PPE and fall protection.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid Journeyman Glazier Certification or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum 4 years of commercial glazing experience preferred.
- Proficient with commercial systems including curtain wall, unitized panels, stick-built systems, and aluminum storefront framing.
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and shop drawings.
- Experience operating lifts, booms, and scaffolding (certifications preferred).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and precision in measuring and fitting.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs), climb, and work at heights.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism on commercial job sites.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Work Environment:
- Commercial construction sites: both new construction and renovation.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and elevated work areas.
- Frequent standing, lifting, climbing, and use of power equipment and lifts.
