The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Planner to join our team in Vaughan. In this critical role, you will be the central point for managing our inventory lifecycle, from forecasting and purchasing to allocation and logistics. You will ensure our products are in the right place at the right time, balancing supply and demand to support our sales objectives and drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Logistics Coordination: Manage all inbound transportation, securing bookings with approved trucking carriers and coordinating pickups with our in-house drivers.
- Forecasting & Demand Planning: Analyze sales trends and collaborate closely with the sales and order desk teams to accurately forecast demand and ensure optimal product availability.
- Supplier & Production Liaison: Coordinate with the production team and suppliers to maintain ideal inventory levels. Develop and nurture strong, strategic relationships with suppliers to enhance supply chain efficiency and reliability.
- Purchase Order Management: Place and meticulously manage purchase orders with suppliers to guarantee the timely and accurate delivery of goods.
- International Shipments: Supervise inbound containers from overseas, working closely with customs brokers and maritime companies to ensure smooth clearance and on-time delivery.
- Inventory Accuracy & Control: Maintain system accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts and performing invoice reconciliations. Verify product barcodes and ingredient details upon receipt to ensure product catalog integrity.
- Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and analyze inventory reports to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for cost savings. Calculate landed costs, file shipment reports, monitor product shelf life, and initiate claims as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
- 1-3 years of proven experience in inventory control, purchasing, warehouse operations, or a similar supply chain role.
- Proficiency with inventory management systems. Familiarity with Sage ERP (ACCPAC) is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of supply chain procedures, logistics, and warehouse management principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) and the MS Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Superior time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced setting.
