Responsibilities
- Maintain effective inventory control procedures for medical and laboratory supplies.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking and ensure timely replenishment.
- Support the Director of Procurement in maintaining accurate inventory records through regular audits and reconciliations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with approved vendors.
- Track and follow up on purchase orders, deliveries, and backorders.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of reagents and hazardous materials in compliance with WHMIS, OHSA, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain documentation for lot numbers, expiry dates, and Certificates of Analysis for quality audits.
- Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure materials meet required standards and are within expiry for use.
- Organize storage areas to optimize space, accessibility, and safety.
- Implement environmental controls for temperature-sensitive and hazardous materials.
- Enforce first-in, first-out (FIFO) rotation to minimize waste.
- Utilize an inventory management system to track stock movement, usage trends, and expiry dates.
- Generate regular inventory reports including stock status, consumption pattern and cost analysis.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Foster collaboration between inventory, laboratory, and operation teams to support operational efficiency
Qualification
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Laboratory Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, with demonstrated knowledge and application of purchasing and inventory practices in a medical laboratory or healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations, medical supply chains, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with inventory management software (e.g., Spend map or equivalent).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication.
