The opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Indigenous Market Leader to join our team. This role will be pivotal in developing and nurturing relationships with Indigenous communities, identifying opportunities for EY to provide meaningful support, and driving business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and business practices, and will be committed to fostering collaboration and mutual growth.
Your key responsibilities:
- Relationship Development:
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with Indigenous communities, leaders, and organizations.
- Engage with, and listen to, community and economic development leaders and stakeholders to understand their vision, strategies, challenges, and opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with non-Indigenous Government and enterprise pursuing economic reconciliation in furtherance of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations
- Business Development:
- Identify areas where EY can provide support and services to Indigenous communities and enterprise.
- Develop and implement culturally progressive business strategies to grow EY's business within Indigenous markets.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create tailored solutions that meet the needs of Indigenous clients and enterprise.
- Identify and engage with alliance partners to deliver business solutions to advance community and enterprise strategy.
- Sales Cycle Assistance:
- Support the sales cycle by providing historical and cultural perspective, governance insight and community purview for Indigenous community and enterprise engagement.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations, ensuring alignment with community values, culture, tradition and expectations.
- Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity:
- Share knowledge and historical perspective with internal teams on Indigenous cultural values and traditions, and critical insights.
- Provide mentorship, insights and resources to ensure culturally aware responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and other client interactions.
- Leadership of Indigenous Impact Team:
- Lead the Indigenous Impact Team in developing desirable outcomes and key results and key performance indicators of success, assessing progress against these measures.
- Develop an overall engagement strategy and framework that fosters an atmosphere of awareness, trust, openness, and communication based on shared objectives, while adhering to EY’s Indigenous policies and guidance from the Indigenous Council and Indigenous Professional Council (IPC).
- Strategic Contribution and Reporting:
- Contribute to and report on strategies for internal updates related to EY’s PAIR goals and activities, including learning programs, sponsorships, recruiting, community engagements, and spend activities that promote a fair return on deployed capital.
- Be an influencer for Indigenous relations across multiple teams and various levels within EY, including as a member of the Global Indigenous network.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness team on matters related to cross-sectional development and strategy.
- Work closely with the Talent and Communications team on Indigenous recruitment and messaging strategies, respectively.
Skills and attributes for success
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Indigenous Studies, or a related field; advanced degree preferred with 8+ years of related work experience.
- Proven experience working with Indigenous communities and a strong understanding of their cultural, social, and economic contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen with experience in business development and sales.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and sensitively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across various levels of the organization.
- Commitment to ethical practices and respect for Indigenous rights and sovereignty.
