Brief Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is responsible for coordinating the facilitates recruitment process, attendance and leave management, policies, procedures, benefits and record keeping functions in support of the department objectives. The HRG will also support the safety objectives and non occupational claims management programs. The incumbent will ensure that the administrative processes are up to date, relevant, available and actionable. The incumbent supports the Human Resources (HR) Director and HR Vice President to meet the organization objectives of delivering relevant programs and maintaining best practices.
Responsibilities
Human Resources
- In alignment with the recruitment strategy, identifies approaches for attracting new talent and positioning within the market, responsible for full cycle recruitment (screening applications, administers background checks scheduling interviews, preparing paperwork and conducting reference checks).
- Updates job descriptions, job postings and advertising for review, onboards and provides new hire orientation; conduct exit interviews.
- Organizes and maintains reporting on training initiatives inline with corporate objectives, and other employee life cycle events.
- Manages and tracks HR metrics in ADP and on company specific reports for HR, updates headcount reports and hours reporting, daily and weekly HR Attendance reporting.
- Maintains employee records in ADP for all unionized employees, manages administration of the Union seniority lists, disciplinary matrix and immigration tracking.
- Supports investigations and disciplinary meetings.
- Tracks leave claim management for employer reporting.
- Advises on and upholds Company policies and procedures (including collective agreement) for all unionized staff, advisor for salaried staff inquiries.
- Drafts and posts employee communications including new employee announcements.
- Updates the site Attendance Management Program.
- Supports the HR and Operations teams in the facilitation of all Company Events.
- Promotes adherence to all policies, procedures, including HACCP/CFIA regulations and best practices at all times.
- Provides administrative support for HRD and Corp HR team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Administration, Payroll & Benefits
- Builds and maintains employee files, both paper and electronic (HRIS) ensuring files are kept current.
- Enters data into time tracking system daily and alerts management to any issues.
- Manages the payroll and benefits administration for staff members; absence and time management; includes tracking probationary periods, benefits and review dates; advising management in a timely fashion of upcoming dates.
- Assists in the coordination of benefits paperwork and offers employee assistance when required.
- Fields employee queries regarding benefits and payroll ensuring confidentiality is strictly maintained.

Position Requirements & Skills
- Completion of diploma or certificate in Human Resources.
- +5 years minimum experience in a HR or administrative role, previous union experience considered an asset.
- Outstanding organizational and MS office skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of employment law.
- Strong ethics regarding confidentiality and privacy.
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid Drivers license.
Physical Requirements
- Regular hours - Monday to Friday, some weekends may be required, 8 hours per day.
- Schedule 7:30am-4pm.
- Required flexibility if production teams work a Saturday or Stat Day to be onsite. (occasional)
- Sitting for extended periods of time.

- Travel – driving to and from job fairs or community partners.
