Key Responsibilities:
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Support employee relations, including investigations, discipline, and conflict resolution
- Manage WCB claims, modified work duties, and coordination with payroll and department leads
- Track and maintain compliance with mandatory certifications (e.g., First Aid, Food Safe)
- Assist employees with immigration-related matters, including PR and work permit applications
- Maintain accurate records and ensure integrity of employee data in the HRIS
- Support training and employee development programs
- Contribute to HR initiatives including engagement, retention, and policy updates
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company standards
- 2+ years of experience in an HR role
- Strong knowledge of employment standards and HR best practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- CHRP or equivalent designation (or working towards it) is an asset
- A practical mindset with a high EQ
- The ability to advise with both empathy and backbone
- A knack for spotting problems before they blow up into full-blown drama
