Job Description

As a Housing Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in supporting clients who are transitioning to permanent housing, ensuring that they have the resources and assistance needed to secure and maintain their homes. You will be responsible for coordinating housing tasks, building positive relationships with clients and landlords, and overseeing the day-to-day operations related to housing placements and maintenance. Your work will be essential in providing comprehensive support to clients within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to assist clients with moving into their homes, including apartment viewings, lease signings, homeset up, including utility set up, and neighborhood orientation.
  • Advocate, develop and maintain positive relationships with landlords, ensuring smooth communication, conflict resolution, and support for both clients and landlords.
  • Assist clients with maintaining their homes by coordinating cleaning, repairs, pest treatments, and move-out preparations.
  • Participate in housing-related and team meetings, training sessions, and maintain accurate electronic records as required.
  • Support the Program in various administrative tasks, such as answering phones, transporting clients, and attending home visits when necessary.Complete all necessary administrative tasks to complete transfers with external agencies.
  • Assist with confirming and securing income with financial supports such as, Alberta Works and AISH.
  • Complete referrals to external agencies and partners.
  • Attend, and support with case conferences, and transition goals.
  • Participate in housing-related and team meetings, training sessions, and maintain accurate electronic records as required.
  • Support the Program in various administrative tasks, such as answering phones, transporting clients, and attending home visits when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in housing support or a related field, ideally working with individuals facing mental health, addiction, or homelessness issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, landlords, and team members.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive client information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of clients and the program.

Vehicle Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (non-GDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle, as travel within the community is a significant part of the role.

Additional Requirements:

  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Child Welfare Intervention Check
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR certifications
  • Vehicle insurance and appropriate coverage for work-related travel.
