Job Summary
The houseperson plays an important role in maintaining the cleanliness and welcoming environment for guests. The position involves a combination of physical tasks, attention to detail and guest services. Shifts may vary from starting in the morning, afternoon or evening. Cleans public areas, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, removes dirty linen from rooms, assisting with minor maintenance and laundry, replacing toiletries and towels. Continually meeting established standards of cleanliness to assure guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Public Area Maintenance
- Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls in public areas, and hallways
- Vacuums public areas, and hallways.
- Cleaning and maintaining common areas of the hotel such as lobbies and stairwells
Support to Housekeeping
- Fill in for housekeeping shifts from time to time
- Cleaning guest rooms and bathrooms, including making beds and changing linens
- Stripping rooms and delivering linen to rooms
- Distributing laundry to all HSKP rooms
- Making sure all HSKP rooms are tidy and clean
- Making sure all linen is arranged neatly
- Maintain HSKP trolleys as needed
- Helping the room attendants with heavy lifting and special cleaning projects as directed
Maintenance and Repair
- Assist with minor maintenance as required
- Checks lights and remotes in rooms to ensure all are in working order.
Guest Assistance
- Assist with carrying or storing luggage as required
- Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanour at all times.
Cleanliness and Safety
- Maintain the hotel rooms and building to ensure a safe and clean experience for hotel guests, associates and vendors.
What skills, abilities and attitudes should you bring to the position?
- Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
- An independent self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
- Friendly, positive attitude
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head, bending, and stooping to perform cleaning tasks.
- Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighting up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and associates.
Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
