Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly host/hostess to join The Toucan team, a busy downtown patio, live music bar and restaurant. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring a warm welcome and a positive dining experience. This role requires excellent communication skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to manage guest flow efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will also be responsible for providing a safe, secure atmosphere for guests and employees.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly as they arrive, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.
- Check ID's and stop guests from entering if they appear to be intoxicated.
- Manage reservations and seating arrangements to optimize guest flow.
- Assist guests with inquiries regarding menu items, special requests, live music listings and any other needs or questions they may have.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front-of-house area, including waiting areas and menus.
- Support the restaurant team by assisting with side duties, bar back and stock.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality or food service is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating a positive guest experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and helping others is crucial for success in this role.
