Job Title: Home Cook (Private Household)
Location: Scarborough, ON
Schedule: Part-time or Full-time (Weekdays preferred; flexible hours)
Family Size: 2 adults + 7 children (ages toddler to preteen)
Compensation: $22–$28 per hour, based on experience and skills

Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Home Cook to join our household and help nourish our family of 9. The ideal candidate can prepare nutritious, kid-friendly, allergy-conscious meals using fresh ingredients. You’ll be cooking meals in a calm, child-filled environment, with the opportunity to be a long-term part of a supportive family setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for a large household
- Plan and cook meals that are:
- Gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free for some family members
- Kid-friendly (pancakes, waffles, muffins, crepes, chicken fingers, nuggets, spaghetti, rice bowls, smoothies, veggie snacks)
- Use organic, whole food ingredients when possible
- Batch-cook and store meals for busy days or weekly prep
- Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen space after cooking
- Track pantry inventory and assist with basic grocery lists
- Occasionally prep packed lunches or snacks for outings
- Be flexible with meal plans and open to incorporating feedback
Preferred Cooking Style:
- Simple, clean eating with low-processed ingredients
- Familiarity with or interest in allergy-friendly cooking and baking
- Open to cooking with a variety of flavors (e.g., light Mediterranean, Asian-inspired, or family comfort meals)
Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced in cooking for families, especially larger households
- Comfortable with dietary needs and food sensitivity modifications
- Teachable, adaptable, and willing to learn new recipes or systems
- Organized, independent, and calm in a busy household
- Enjoys creating a peaceful, efficient kitchen space
- Bonus: Open to involving kids occasionally in light cooking or baking
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of cooking experience in a home or professional setting
- Experience preparing meals for children and/or individuals with food allergies
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes and also create meals from what’s available
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to lift medium kitchen items (pots, grocery bags, etc.) and stand for extended periods
- Food Handler Certificate is a plus but not required
Work Environment:
- Joyful, busy household with young children at home
- Kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven, blender, food processor, and more
- Located near Mccowan and McNicoll
Additional Notes:
- This position begins with a paid trial period (1–2 weeks) to ensure mutual fit
- Hygiene and cleanliness are important to our family; no specific vaccinations required
- Potential to expand into a hybrid role (e.g., meal prep + organizing or light child help) if mutually agreed
