Overview
Eckel Electric is small contractor located between London and St. Thomas and we are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). You will develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols as well as conduct inspections, and provide or schedule training as required.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for safety reporting and statistics documentation
- Maintain awareness of amendments to OHSA and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation
- Research, plan, and schedule 3rd party training
- Manage and maintain the health and safety app
- Assign online training to workers as needed
- Follow-up with incomplete training
- Lead and participate in workplace audits and investigations of safety concerns, incidents and accidents
- Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the workplace
- Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures
- Maintaining an organized online filing system for all appropriate documents
- Answer customer inquiries and gather documentation as directed
- Correspond with 3rd party safety personnel as required
- Gather and provide safety documentation for pre-qualification and start-up document
- Complete monthly office, shop and site inspections
- Assist with updating company policies, procedures and safe work practices
- Support WSIB claims administration as necessary
- Coordinate and complete documentation required for the WSIB Excellence program
- Coordinate administrative aspects of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Taking meeting minutes as required
- Support the First Aid program by ensuring adequate kit locations and supplies
- Contact suppliers for quotes and order PPE and supplies as required
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
Experience
- 3 years minimum in a similar role
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Health and Safety
- NHSA certified preferred
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
- Experience with H&S applications such as SiteDocs is an asset
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Knowledge of OHSA and Regulations
- Experience in the construction industry
