With over 15 years of history in advancing volleyball talent, including supporting the Canadian Women’s National Team, the Oval offers a unique opportunity to coach, mentor, and shape the future of Canadian volleyball.

Key Responsibilities:

Coach Development & Training Delivery:

    • Lead high-quality training sessions for elementary, high school, and club-level athletes.
    • Mentor, assign, and evaluate volleyball instructors across all age groups.
    • Ensure all programming aligns with Volleyball Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.

Curriculum & Athlete Development:

    • Design and implement progressive, age- and skill-appropriate training curricula.
    • Integrate on-court training with strength and conditioning and sport science services.
    • Monitor athlete progress and provide written feedback to athletes and parents.

Program Management:

    • Oversee scheduling, registration, and administration of all volleyball programs and camps.
    • Coordinate private training sessions and Volleyball Canada facility bookings.
    • Manage part-time coaching staff schedules and support their professional development.

Strategic Planning & Financial Oversight:

    • Collaborate with the High Performance team to set the strategic vision for OvalHP Volleyball.
    • Budget, forecast, and track program metrics to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
    • Process client payments and manage invoicing as needed.

Marketing & Community Engagement:

    • Promote programs and recruit athletes to maximize participation and performance.
    • Represent Oval REP at community events, coaching clinics, and parent education seminars.
    • Maintain strong partnerships with Volleyball BC, local schools, and clubs.

National Team Support:

    • Serve as the primary liaison for Volleyball Canada and the Women’s National Team.
    • Ensure seamless coordination of their daily training environment, including facility access, scheduling, and operational needs.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Sport Management, Physical Education, or related field (Master’s degree an asset).
    • NCCP Volleyball Coaching Certification – Development Coach level minimum.
    • Safe Sport Certification and commitment to the Responsible Coaching Movement (RCM).
    • Over 5 years of coaching experience, including leadership of youth and/or high-performance programs.
    • Proven success in athlete development across multiple stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.
    • Experience managing coaching staff, program operations, and collaborative projects with provincial and national sport organizations.
    • Demonstrated ability to align programming with sport partners such as Volleyball Canada, Volleyball BC, and local clubs.
    • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.

Skills and Abilities:

    • Aligned with the Oval’s core values: People, Excellence, Leadership, Team, and Innovation.
    • Strategic program planning, design, implementation, and evaluation.
    • Strong leadership, facilitation, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment.
    • Effective people management, including coaching, mentoring, and staff development.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
    • Budget preparation, financial analysis, and performance reporting.
    • Ability to motivate and empower teams with enthusiasm and vision.
    • Collaborative approach to working with sport partners and stakeholders.
    • Application of sport science principles to optimize athlete development.
