General Information
Job Title: Outreach and Engagement Worker
Contract length: 1 x Contract Position until March 31, 2026. Benefit eligible on a 6 month or longer contract
Job Summary
This position is primarily based out of our own drop-in centre on our Inreach team. This includes providing support to and supervision of those visiting the centre, including connecting them to testing, supports, and resources, meal preparation and service, and relationship building. You will also support the community outreach team as needed, this can include visiting (or working in) homeless encampments, drop-in centres, transitional housing units, shelters, soup kitchens, medical centers and hospitals, and various types of residential or housing facilities to provide education and engage high-risk populations in treatment and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support people in the community with the uptake of Harm Reduction practices
- Connect people with traditional Indigenous medicines and ceremonies.
- Provide Harm Reduction materials.
- Provide testing and automatic referrals to treatment.
- Provide referrals to internal programs and external partner organizations.
- Provide transportation to street-involved people to attend other services.
- Connect with housing and income support programs.
- Refer to other harm reduction or treatment services as identified by the client.
- Provide information on HIV/HCV/STIs and Harm Reduction
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Education & Training
- Post-secondary education in Human Services or a minimum of two years of relevant experience
- At least two years of experience with the specific population serviced by our agency
- Previous experience working with Indigenous peoples and community, and a good understanding of Indigenous history, cultures and knowing, being and doing.
- Must have Glass 'G" Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract
Experience
You must have a thorough understanding of the client population and the goals of the program (e.g., harm reduction, HIV, HCV, STIs and addiction) and should have experience working with diverse populations and responding to cultural and social issues while maintaining client respect and dignity.
Demonstrated competency in the following:

- Data entry into the organizations EMR
- Ability to receive and send emails and texts
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 months
Pay: $25.62-$28.15 per hour
