Position Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, care, and improvement of the golf course grounds. This leadership position requires a hands-on, proactive professional who can manage agronomic practices, lead a team, and ensure the course is consistently presented at peak condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute all agronomic practices, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, topdressing, aeration, and pesticide applications.
- Manage and train grounds crew staff, including daily assignments, performance evaluation, and seasonal hiring.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budget for the golf course maintenance department.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation and drainage systems for optimal turf health.
- Ensure all operations are compliant with government regulations and best environmental practices.
- Communicate effectively with the General Manager, golf professionals, and club committees regarding course conditions, maintenance schedules, and projects.
- Schedule and supervise major maintenance and renovation projects as required.
- Maintain accurate records for chemical applications, maintenance practices, and weather-related issues.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a high-quality facility.
- Valid Ontario Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain.
- Strong agronomic knowledge and a passion for turfgrass excellence.
- Proven leadership and communication skills.
- Experience managing budgets and capital projects.
- Proficiency with irrigation systems (Toro, Rain Bird, or similar).
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $85,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
