PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Are you ready to lead and make a lasting impact? As a Roadmaster, you’ll own a critical leadership role by overseeing compliance with safety practices, policies and procedures, and guiding a team of dedicated union employees. This role supervises all track operations, maintenance of way and adheres to all Transport Canada regulations. This is your opportunity to deliver, while advancing your career at CPKC.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate and implement emergency response and seasonal plans to service interruptions
  • Lead union employees within the terms of the Collective Agreement and assist in handling corrective actions, disputes and grievances
  • Accountable for execution of annual/multi-year capital planning priorities
  • Provide oversight of engineering materials and accurate inventory; ensuring inspections are properly documented into Track Asset Management Systems (TAMS)
  • Conduct monthly ride along of assigned territory with Train and Engines (T&E) employees
  • Ensure CPKC is aligned with all Transport Canada regulatory processes


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5+ years proven experience in track maintenance & renewal
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading track renewal crews such as rail tie crews
  • Knowledge of railway track safety rules
  • Application of the Maintenance of Way Employees Division (MWED) collective bargaining agreement
  • Provide on-call rotation and support for emergency response on a rotating cycle (likely every other week) to support 24/7 operations

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
