General Production Worker – Metal Fabrication Division

Location: Cambridge, Ontario
Since 1943 N.R. Murphy Ltd prides itself on being a people-oriented company focused on designing and manufacturing the highest quality of air pollution control equipment. N.R. Murphy is currently looking to hire a general production worker as a part of its fabrication division. In this position, the successful applicant will work alongside the fabrication team to assist in various production and labour tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing units for painting including installing hardware, caulking, installing filter bags, and cleaning the equipment.
- Operate the CNC plasma table, by loading the table with sheet metal, running the appropriate CAD file, and ensuring that the machine runs without errors.
- Assist with shipping and receiving, including material handling, racking steel, and utilizing overhead cranes and forklifts (willing to train).
- Assist the fabrication department through a variety of production tasks, including saw cutting, grinding, punching and other various tasks.
- Assist on service calls on an as needed basis.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Other general labourer duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Punctuality must be on time for shift and be consistent with attendance.
- Ability to read and use tape measure.
- Ability to use hand tools (such as hammer, screw drivers, wrenches, etc).
- Ability to utilize a computer, and willingness to troubleshoot errors on the CNC plasma table.
- Ability to work in a safe manner.
- Ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Experience with grinders, forklifts, cranes, hoists, shears, saws, iron workers, welders, plasma cutters or brake press is an asset. Willing to train on some.
- Knowledge or experience with Dust Collection is an asset.
- Willing to use a 10-ton Forklift, and ladders. Must be comfortable with heights. Must be comfortable with confined spaces.
- Able to stand regularly and lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Other:
- 40 hours per week with possible overtime when needed.
- 7am – 4pm Monday – Thursday, 7am – 1pm Friday
- Must bring your own: Steel-toed safety boots
Salary & Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $21.00 - $24.00
- Company Paid Benefits (3 months after start date)
