General Manager - Signage Division

Canco Petroleum
$180,000 - $210,000 a year
Kelowna, British Columbia
Full time

Who We Are:

At Canco, we’re Canadian born and raised. We are an independent chain of gas stations launched in 2016. A bold alternative to big-box retailers, Canco was born from a vision to become a leading gas retailer brand. We purchase directly from major fuel refineries and terminals in Canada to ensure premium products are offered at competitive prices. Proudly local, we put people first and run our business with honesty, integrity, and excellence.

The Role:

The General Manager – Signage Division will lead the operations of our signage manufacturing and installation company. The business specializes in the production of building signage, canopy signage, pylon signage, digital signage, and large-format printing. Additional services include signage installation for both in-house and third-party projects, as well as repairs and warranty work.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of operations, financial performance, and strategic modernization, including the implementation of production systems and ERP software to bring structure and scalability to a growing but currently unsophisticated business. This is a unique opportunity to lead a transformation while running a full-service signage operation

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations: production, fabrication, installation, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Improve and enforce job tracking, resource planning, and process flow.
  • Implement best practices to improve output, reduce rework, and enhance quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Production Systems & ERP Implementation

  • Introduce and implement ERP or production management systems to streamline workflows, job costing, procurement, and inventory.
  • Evaluate current manual or ad hoc processes and develop system-based controls.
  • Work with IT/vendors to select, configure, and train staff on appropriate systems.
  • Develop and monitor dashboards and KPIs for visibility and accountability.

Procurement & Inventory Management

  • Manage procurement of all raw materials and signage components.
  • Build vendor relationships and negotiate pricing to ensure cost-effective and timely supply.
  • Oversee warehouse and material inventory with a systemized approach.

Financial Oversight

  • Full P&L responsibility with focus on cost control, profitability, and growth.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets, job costing, and project-level financials.
  • Collaborate with finance/accounting to improve financial reporting and forecasting.

Sales & Customer Management

  • Support quoting, estimating, and execution of projects with the sales and customer service teams.
  • Maintain strong client relationships with contractors, retail clients, and partners.
  • Oversee service calls, repairs, and warranty fulfillment.

Team & People Management

  • Lead and develop production staff, installers, supervisors, and administrative teams.
  • Build a performance-driven culture focused on quality, safety, and delivery.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and performance reviews in collaboration with HR.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Set and uphold standards for product quality, installation, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, local codes, and warranty terms.

What You Bring:

  • 7–10+ years in a senior operations role within signage, manufacturing, construction, or fabrication industries.
  • Proven experience in ERP selection, implementation, and production systems setup (e.g., Job BOSS, NetSuite, MS Dynamics, Fishbowl, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of signage production workflows (fabrication, printing, assembly, installation).
  • Demonstrated P&L responsibility and business acumen.
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional operational teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
  • Technical background or comfort with digital tools, production planning software, and reporting dashboards.
  • Experience working in or modernizing low-tech or evolving environments is a strong asset.

What We Offer:

  • Salary and performance-based incentives – Range CAD $180,000 to $210,000
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
  • Full health benefits package
  • Supportive ownership group with long-term vision
