Overview
Reporting to the CEO, this role contributes to ensuring outstanding and quality services are delivered in keeping with SDA’s high standards of performance.

2. Client Engagement, Service Delivery and Business Development

- Creates and implements new account start-up plans to ensure success
- Ensures day-to-day services are being consistently delivered to SDA’s high standards within established timelines and service specifications
- Responds promptly to customer requests, concerns, and issues
- Identifies opportunities to provide additional services to existing customers
- Manages delivery of work orders, periodic work, and additional services
- Ensures all monthly quality control inspections are completed and issues are followed up for resolution
- Monitors budgets for each client location to maintain deliverables and profitability
- Makes sure services meet all federal and provincial legislation requirements
- Collaborates with other management team members to develop new policies or procedures and evolve SDA services
- Partners with colleagues from Maintenance and Repair to increase the scope of services provided to current clients
- Responsible for executing all contractual obligations, from contract preparation and submission to follow-up on overdue payments.
- Responsible for representing and promoting the SDA brand at trade shows, networking functions and industry events to support business growth and visibility.
3. Manages and Develops Employees and Subcontractors
- Interviews and selects new team members
- Assigns team members to work locations in a fair way
- Manages performance of direct reports
- Sets team members up for success
- Provides training on all required SDA Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety as well as product usage
- Ensures the safe and appropriate use of on-site equipment, such as the janitor cart system, vacuums, burnishers, and auto-scrubbers
- Provides ongoing performance feedback and coaching in support of development and success
- Conducts ongoing and annual individual performance evaluations
- Delivers corrective feedback and disciplinary action as required
4. SDA’s Health and Safety Champion
- Ensures appropriate health and safety policies and practices are established and implemented throughout all of SDA’s work areas
- Takes all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of team members and public
- Conducts workplace inspections at least once per month to identify and evaluate hazards
5. Right To Disconnect
Regular working hours for this role are Monday to Friday with availability to team members and clients between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
As this is a management role, the General Manager – Condominium Janitorial will:
- Stay aware of crises that may require situation-specific responses outside of regular working hours
- Use judgement to respond to phone calls or voice messages needing an immediate response due to a safety or emergency issue.
- As a manager, this role requires prioritization of the use of time to support the Condominium Janitorial team and clients during regular business hours
6. Perform other duties and tasks assigned
Qualifications and Experience Needed to Succeed in this Role
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role with a strong focus on operations, such as General Manager or VP.
- Proven experience managing condominium and commercial janitorial operations, with a strong track record of client service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and hold teams accountable to performance, quality and safety standards.
- Proficient in industry best practices, operational planning and problem-solving
- Skilled in networking and business development with the ability to grow and maintain a portfolio of clients.
- Comfortable attending and leading condominium board meetings, representing the company with professionalism and confidence.
- Proficient in professional cleaning methods and products, including floor stripping, waxing and recoating methods for commercial buildings
- Able to train team members in the use of equipment such as janitor carts, vacuums, auto-scrubbers and propane burnishers
- Knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code, Residential Tenancies Act, Privacy Act, Health and Safety standards, AODA, Ontario Building Code, and Municipal Property Standards By-Laws
- WHMIS certification is an asset
- Ability to travel around the province to supervise the delivery of services
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and nights as needed for supervision of service delivery

- Strength to lift, as part of daily tasks, items up to 50 lbs./23 kg
- Capability to perform work requiring standing, walking, crouching bending, kneeling as well as repetitive tasks
- Intermediate level computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Acrobat Adobe, Excel, and Word as well as familiarity with other building technology systems
- A keen interest in learning and developing new skills
- Eligibility to work in Canada with current documentation
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
