Position Overview:
SRDC is seeking a highly qualified General Manager, Operations to lead and oversee all aspects of operational management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery, maintaining strong client relationships, and driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health and safety of clients, employees, subcontractors, and infrastructure across all operations.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on ongoing and prospective projects and partnerships.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budgets and schedules for all operational activities.
- Review and update the Safety and Work Practices Manual to maintain compliance and best practices.
- Supervise field personnel, ensuring accurate reporting and adherence to operational standards.
- Confirm all employees are appropriately trained and qualified.
- Oversee the safety and operational readiness of equipment and vehicles, ensuring compliance with regulatory and manufacturer standards.
- Monitor field supervisors to ensure budgets, schedules, and client expectations are consistently met.
- Validate timesheets to ensure all hours are billable, with prior client approval for overtime and travel hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and inventory control in operational facilities, including an annual review of parts and consumables.
- Provide detailed monthly financial and operational reports to the President and Board of Directors.
- Exercise full financial oversight of SRDC’s income and expenditures, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Manage accounts payable, adhering to a maximum 45-day payment cycle.
- Oversee purchase orders, charge accounts, and fuel procurement with due diligence.
- Collaborate with Finance to forecast vehicle, equipment, and staffing needs; prepare proposals for executive approval.
- Conduct regular unannounced field visits to evaluate workforce performance, safety compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Evaluate employee performance and remuneration, providing constructive feedback.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, executives, and staff; lead weekly safety meetings.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to support organizational growth.
- Represent SRDC and Sawridge First Nation with professionalism and integrity at all times.
- Ensure all office and field personnel fulfill their responsibilities to SRDC and its clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the President and Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in contract delivery, budget management, and project scheduling.
- Strong business development acumen.
- Excellent personnel and time management skills.
- Knowledge of oilfield heavy construction preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is an asset.
- Understanding of the Slave Lake region and established local industry contacts is advantageous.
- Preference given to candidates residing locally or willing to relocate to Slave Lake.
Compensation:
This is a salaried full-time position based on a 40-hour work week. Compensation and benefits will be discussed with shortlisted candidates during the interview process.
