AXE Throwing Calgary is looking for a driven and passionate individual to lead our team as General Manager. This is more than a management position—it’s an opportunity to help grow a unique recreational business, build a thriving community, and take ownership of a leadership role in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
We want someone who is not only professional and reliable, but also enthusiastic about axe throwing, passionate about the customer experience, and eager to take initiative in business development. The ideal candidate will treat this role as a career path, not just a job, and see themselves as an ambassador for the sport, the club, and the people we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement & Community Building
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer interactions—responding to calls, emails, and social media inquiries with a professional yet personable tone.
- Take bookings for private events and leagues, guiding customers through every step to ensure a smooth experience.
- Foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive atmosphere for all guests, helping to grow a loyal and enthusiastic community around the venue.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Hire, schedule, train, and lead a high-performing team, modeling professionalism, positivity, and accountability.
- Manage payroll accurately and on time, and ensure staff coverage aligns with bookings and business needs.
- Provide on-site leadership during events—including bartending when needed—ensuring both guests and staff feel supported.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee daily operations with an eye for detail, consistency, and efficiency.
- Maintain inventory levels for bar and merchandise, pick up orders when necessary, and coordinate with vendors.
- Monitor the financial health of the business, handle invoicing and payments, and look for areas to improve profitability and efficiency.
Marketing, Social Media & Business Development
- Develop and execute engaging social media content that drives bookings and builds excitement around events, leagues, and merch.
- Maintain the website with up-to-date content and offerings.
- Represent AXE Throwing Calgary at trade shows, festivals, and other events to increase visibility and build partnerships.
- Proactively seek out sponsorships, collaborations, and community outreach opportunities to grow the brand.
Who You Are:
- Passionate: Whether it’s the sport itself, the thrill of events, or delivering unforgettable customer service—you bring energy and pride to what you do.
- Detail-Oriented & Organized: You manage time, people, and resources with precision.
- Adaptable & Composed: You thrive under pressure and can think on your feet.
- A Natural Leader: You lead by example, earning respect through your actions, communication, and commitment.
- Business-Minded: You understand the bigger picture and are excited to help the business grow—operationally, financially, and culturally.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years in a management or assistant management role, preferably in events, hospitality, or recreation
- Experience managing schedules, payroll, and staff
- Familiarity with social media platforms, booking systems, and basic financial reporting
