Moyo Health & Community Services, formerly known as Peel HIV/AIDS Network, has been a cornerstone in health promotion and support for over twenty years. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive services for individuals living with, affected by, and at risk of HIV in the Peel communities of Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon.
Summary
Reporting to the Health Promotion and Prevention Program Manager and working as part of an integrated Programs and Services team, the Gay Men’s Sexual Health Programs Coordinator will coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of Moyo’s health promotion, and community development initiatives supporting cis and trans gay, bisexual, and queer men who have sex with men (GBQTMSM) in the Region of Peel.
Guided by strengths-based, sex positive, anti-oppression, and harm reduction principles, this position will work very closely with clients, volunteers, newcomers, other community members, and partner agencies to strengthen the health and well-being of GBQTMSM. Applying a variety of lenses, including health promotion, population health, intersectionality, life course, minority stress and syndemic theories, this position will develop and implement strategic, evidence-based programs to impact health at the individual, community, and structural levels.
At Moyo we value hiring individuals with lived experience of the clients we support. We are seeking an individual with lived experience of the clients primarily supported through this position including gay bi trans men who have sex with men.
Responsibilities:
Program Development, Implementation, Evaluation
- Facilitate programming for GBQTMSM that addresses sexual health prevention, mental health, access to health and social services
- Provide one-on-one sexual health and prevention advice to GBQTMSM using various on-line and in-person platforms
- Create and maintain public health promotion campaigns targeted at GBQTMSM using on-line and in-person platforms
- Develop, implement, evaluate and revise annual work plans guided by current and emerging evidence of need, best practice, available resources, and other relevant factors
- Participate in and/or lead research/needs assessment initiatives (community based, academic, etc.) that help to strengthen our understanding of the needs and interests of GBQTMSM in the region of Peel
- Develop project proposals that support the planning of strategic partnerships and resource development opportunities as well as support development of funding applications
- Actively participate in the Ontario Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance and other relevant networks and coalitions serving GBQTMSM
Community Development
- Support 2SLGBTQ+ newcomer populations and settlement agencies with culturally competent services in Peel region; systems navigation, informative presentations and other supportive services. Identify and develop diverse and meaningful partnership opportunities that contribute to strengthening the health and well-being of GBQTMSM across the lifespan
Volunteer & Program Administration
- Actively develop and support meaningful volunteer opportunities in GBQTMSM programs
- Manage program files and other documentation, including email, according to agency standards
- Produce program statistics and narrative reports as required
- Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in a related field and/or related experience required
- Demonstrated understanding of the value and importance of nurturing inclusion (ideally celebration) of diverse racial, cultural, linguistic, sexual, gender, ability, and other experiences
- Enthusiastic about and skilled in using social media platforms/apps (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Grindr, etc.) Knowledge of website, social media and print content development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; while services are provided in English, ability to communicate in one or more languages is a strong asset
- Strong group facilitation skills including conflict management and support for individuals struggling with mental health related challenges
- Strong presentation skills, comfort discussing sexual health topics with individuals and groups
- Project Management skills, ability to prioritize competing priorities, manage a busy schedule, make advance plans and coordinate complicated logistics
- Event planning skills including planning, coordinating logistics, promotion
- Relationship development skills, including ability to reach out and maintain partnerships with other community service providers
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of online/email /social media communications platforms
Program Travel is required for this job therefore, we will prioritize candidates with a valid Ontario Driver’s License, and access to a reliable motor vehicle. Candidate must also possess excellent time management and organizational skills with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
