The Opportunity:
We are currently hiring a full-time, permanent 'G' Delivery Driver & Lumber Yard Associate.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for preparing, loading, delivering and unloading materials to customers, and ensuring excellent service is provided. When not required on a delivery, the associate will assist customers in our lumber yard.
Duties Include:
Deliveries:
- Prepare customer orders, picking product, securing on the skid, and banding and wrapping according to weather and loading conditions.
- Operate vehicle to transport product/material to private homes and construction sites, following the rules of the road and representing the company to the highest standards.
- Safely unload product/material at private homes and construction sites, etc., and carry product/material to required area (materials weighing up to 100 pounds).
Lumber Yard:
- Ensure customers are greeted promptly as they enter the lumber yard.
- Review invoice and assist customers in locating and loading their merchandise.
- Be familiar with all items in stock, including their location in the lumber yard.
- Move materials weighing up to 100 pounds to or from the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc. as required.
- Load and unload materials, taking all necessary safety precautions when handling freight, tools and equipment.
- Keep the yard, cut shop, receiving bay, etc. in a clean and presentable appearance. Remove garbage and debris as needed throughout the day.
- Safely operate yard equipment and tools, including forklift, pallet jack, lumber cart, banding machine, radial arm saw, etc. as required.
What We're Looking For:
- Prior delivery experience required.
- Valid Ontario ‘G’ class driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Prior lumber yard experience an asset.
- Forklift certification an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift/move materials weighing up to 100 lb.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must read and comprehend written and printed materials, as well as information presented in numerical form.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
- Excellent decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.
- Please note: Reliable transportation is essential as Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre is not on a bus route.
