About the Role
Gateway Holistic Care is hiring a compassionate, reliable, and experienced overnight caregiver to support a 7-year-old child with complex medical needs. This role involves one-on-one in-home overnight care in Fort Saskatchewan. The client sleeps through the night but requires observation and readiness for care tasks as needed.
Client Profile
- 7-year-old female
- Diagnosed with chronic lung disease
- G-tube fed
- Oxygen support
- Occasional suctioning
- Slight speech delay
- Pleasant demeanor, sleeps soundly
- Lives with parents and siblings
- Cats in the home
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor child overnight while they sleep
- Perform G-tube feeding and suctioning (as needed)
- Administer oxygen if necessary
- Assist with dressing and teeth brushing (as part of night or morning routine)
- Document care provided using agency tools
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Communicate any changes or concerns to family and supervisors
- Follow established care plan and protocols
Requirements
- Female caregiver (client preference)
- Experience with pediatric respite care or complex medical needs
- Comfortable with:
- G-tube feeding
- Oxygen equipment
- Suctioning
- Reliable and punctual with strong overnight availability
- Comfortable working alone during overnight shifts
- Must be okay with cats in the home
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid government-issued ID
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
- References required
Assets (Not Mandatory)
- Health care aide or nursing background
- FSCD experience
- Experience with nonverbal or speech-delayed children
- Familiarity with overnight documentation
