Position Overview:
The Food Production Worker role combines respecting and undertaking production operations with maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. This position involves managing inventory, ensuring efficient and safe workflow while supporting tasks like mixing, packaging, and shipment preparation. Concurrently, the role ensures the execution of the HACCP program (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) as per CFIA and Health Canada standards. This includes ensuring product quality through inspections, adherence to food safety standards, and accurate documentation of processes. With a balance of hands-on involvement and oversight, this role is critical to delivering safe, high-quality products efficiently.
General Responsibilities
- Work with the Manager and the Operations Supervisor to execute the production schedule posted based on incoming orders, delivery arrangements, and current baked stock levels.
- Assist in preparing the labels according to the production schedule, ensuring the date on the label reflects the date of production.
- Assist with Mixing, Depositing, Demoulding, and Packaging tasks throughout the day when needed.
- Verify the pallets for shipment are correct with the packing slips. Record the lot codes on the shipping lists
- Assist in monitoring the freezer and cooler inventory daily to monitor baked stock levels. Communicate low levels to the Supervisor
- Conduct a monthly inventory of the ingredients and consumables
- Communicate ingredient and consumable shortages to the Supervisors.
- Record the lot codes for ingredients to be used for the day on the Ingredient Batching Sheets
- Complete a thorough Pre-production check of the bakery to ensure that the site was cleaned and sanitized well the shift before and that there is no debris or loose pieces of equipment
- Take control of the Sharps register. Ensure that the sharps are appropriate for the task at hand and in good condition. At the end of the day, sign them back in to ensure they are intact and stored appropriately.
- Inspect raw materials, ingredients, and finished products for compliance with quality standards and company policies.
- Monitor storage conditions of ingredients and finished products to prevent contamination or spoilage.
- Ensure that the lot codes are written on all interim ingredient storage containers with the date added to the container.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in third-party audits and inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of quality checks, inspections, and test results.
- Communicate quality concerns and corrective actions to management and relevant teams
Schedule and Duration:
Full-time from 7am – 3pm. Monday to Friday.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage (based on experience and role). Opportunity for overtime where applicable.
Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 25kgs
- Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Technical certification related to the job is a bonus
- Ability to drive a fork lift is a bonus
