Oil Flushing Supervisor to oversee and execute flushing operations on lube oil, hydraulic oil, and other fluid systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring systems meet cleanliness standards during construction, commissioning, maintenance, or shutdown activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of field technicians and subcontractors, coordinating flushing operations, and ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with safety procedures, project specifications, and industry standards.
This is a field-based position with the majority of work taking place on active job sites with the occasional need to attend meetings in office.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise flushing activities for critical fluid systems at the field level.
- Coordinate and lead field technicians and subcontractors during operations.
- Interpret P&IDs, flushing plans, and system cleanliness requirements.
- Set up and operate flushing equipment including temporary loops, filter skids, hoses, and instrumentation.
- Monitor key operational parameters such as flow rate, pressure, temperature, and differential pressure.
- Perform oil sampling and cleanliness checks using portable particle counters and/or lab testing.
- Maintain detailed documentation including flushing logs, system punch-lists, and daily reports.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and according to project-specific safety protocols.
- Conduct toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings.
- Troubleshoot system issues and support readiness for commissioning.
- Communicate daily with QA/QC, Project Managers, and client representatives.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in oil flushing, fluid power systems, or related field.
- Prior experience with rotating equipment systems (turbines, compressors, gearboxes) preferred.
- Strong understanding of industry standards including API 614, ISO 4406, NAS 1638, and ASTM testing methods.
- Proficient in setting up and operating oil flushing systems and monitoring equipment.
- Able to read and interpret P&IDs and technical schematics.
- Skilled in the use of particle counters and contamination monitoring tools.
- Solid understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
- Proven leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Safety-conscious, proactive, and detail-oriented.
