Job Summary
The Full-Time Floater is a key member of the Little Cubs team, providing flexible support across all classrooms (toddler, preschool and School Age). The floater ensures that daily routines run smoothly by stepping in where support is needed most. Whether covering breaks, assisting during busy periods, cleaning, or filling in for absent educators. This role requires a positive attitude, adaptability, and a genuine passion for working with children of all ages.
Salary
$18.00-$20.00/hr
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
CHILD CARE PROGRAMMING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support educators in the daily care and supervision of children ages 6 months to 6 years.
- Assist with implementing age-appropriate activities and routines based on children’s developmental needs based on the Finnish Curriculum implemented at the Centre
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging environment in all classrooms.
- Build nurturing relationships with children and support their social-emotional development.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families, and colleagues.
- Follow all health and safety protocols as per the Ministry of Education and CCEYA guidelines.
- Adapt quickly to classroom transitions and changes in daily schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of materials and organization of classroom environments.
- Step into educator roles temporarily when required due to staff absences.
- Assist with daily laundry routine.
Education and Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Diploma (or equivalent) preferred but not mandatory for floater roles.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.
- Vulnerable Sector Check (current within 6 months).
- Up-to-date Immunization Record, including TB test as required.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting is an asset.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
