Atripco is seeking to expand our operations and looking for an additional Fleet Safety and Compliance Officer to join our growing team. As a Fleet Safety and Compliance Officer, this role will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing training and development programs aimed at growing the skills and abilities of our Driving Team. In addition, this person will play a key part in the orientation of new Drivers into the organization and serve as a Champion in Safety Culture to support implementation and governance of legislative requirements in alignment with company policy. Ultimately, you will work closely with Drivers to ensure operations run smoothly, vehicles are maintained based on our standards, and that all compliance requirements are met across the company's divisions.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Additional hours may be required as per business requirements.

What you will be doing:
- Ensure effective driver orientation sessions are conducted.
- Monitor, review, and ensure the accuracy of ELDs for full compliance.
- Monitor and review HOS compliance and accuracy and correct issues
- Maintain all equipment files & oversee the Fleet Maintenance Program
- Ensure compliance with ALL relevant commercial transportation regulations
- Preparing MTO documents for plating of vehicles.
- Managing insurance lists for addition/deletion of assets on the policy.
- Participate in orientations of new drivers - road tests/circle checks and set up in required systems.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of driver files, vehicle files, maintenance logs, and compliance records.
- Create, maintain, and update comprehensive truck operating authority binders.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align safety initiatives with operational goals.
- Provide consistent updates to records and generate insightful reports.
- Ensure compliance with ALL relevant commercial transportation regulations in the US and Canada
- Plan and coordinate safety meeting for all truck drivers
- Monitor and maintain third party training for fleet
- Implement strategies focused on driver retention and satisfaction that foster growth and improvement.
- Lead accident investigations, conduct reviews, and take swift corrective actions when necessary.
- Embrace additional responsibilities as assigned and enforce company policies with conviction.
What we are looking for
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position within the industry is essential.
- Strong understanding of standards, ELDs, Hours of Service, and vehicle maintenance compliance.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is an asset; certifications such as CRSP or CDS are strongly preferred would be an asset.
- A self-motivated individual who excels in accountability and accuracy in their role.
- A dedicated and reliable team player with a sense of urgency.
- Strong proficiency in information and technology.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training development programs.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving regulatory environment.
- Preference given to candidates with a commercial license (AZ/DZ).
- Knowledge of Carriers Edge, Isaac & Geotab is a definite asset.
- Track record of coaching drivers, leading multi-site safety culture programs, and reducing accident frequency or maintenance cost.
- Willingness to travel between terminals (Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Oakville) regularly and to be on-call after hours.
- Successful completion of the “Ontario Driving Instructor Course” would be an asset.
