Come Grow with Us! Forsite is actively recruiting a Fire Behaviour Analyst with experience and demonstrated aptitude in wildfire behaviour, modeling/predictive services and risk management. The position can be remote or ideally based out of one of our offices in Kamloops or Salmon Arm, BC.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Operating within the Forsite Fire business unit, the Fire Behaviour Analyst will work within a team of senior wildland fire specialists, forest planners and data analysts to develop and facilitate planning processes in response to a range of forest land management challenges - including forest stewardship, landscape resilience and wildfire risk management.
This position will support the implementation of wildfire behaviour modeling to support a range of strategic and operational wildfire projects and implement fire weather analysis and reporting to support wildfire spread modeling. Depending on the experience, interests and passions of the successful candidate, projects the Fire Behaviour Analyst may be involved with include Wildfire Risk Assessments, Integrated Resource Management Plans, and Climate Vulnerability Assessments, etc.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Must have:
- A safety conscious attitude.
- Post-secondary education with a natural resource management focus or extensive operational fire experience equivalence.
- (Prefer) Minimum 5 years of related experience in wildfire and fuels management.
- Formal training and/or experience in wildfire behaviour analysis/modeling and wildfire operations.
- Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS and Microsoft Office™ tools.
- Proficiency in Python; proficiency in R will be considered an asset.
- Basic understanding and experience of implementing land management concepts and practices.
- Basic understanding of legislation and policy impacting wildfire management in Canada and/or the United States.
- Operational fire experience or prescribed burn experience will be considered an asset.
