About the University Library

Housed in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre, the University Library is an integral part of the MRU experience. The services, facilities, programming and expertise available in the Library support innovative teaching, learning, and scholarship across campus. The Library includes the Archives and Special Collections, and specialized and technology-enriched teaching and learning spaces, including information literacy classrooms, a Maker and Media Commons, audio production rooms, and a range of visualization, simulation, and immersive spaces. The library meets user information needs through responsive and accessible service and supports; builds capacity across campus for teaching, information literacy, knowledge creation and sharing; and works to strengthen relationships with diverse communities to support teaching, learning and scholarship. The LIbrary’s approach is rooted in evidence-based decision making through continuous learning and ongoing assessment of our initiatives and services. Acknowledging the historical exclusion of voices, perspectives and knowledge in libraries, we commit to Indigenous reconciliation, diversity, equity justice and inclusion in our work.

The Library values a healthy inclusive workplace, encourages a culture of innovation and teamwork, and provides support for professional development. The Library team consists of approximately 60 employees.

About the Role

Mount Royal University (MRU) is seeking a dedicated and analytical professional Faculty Financial and Operations Officer to join our team. This position is a full-time role in the University Library. This position supports the financial planning, budgeting, and reporting functions within the University Library. In collaboration with the Senior Finance & Planning Officer and the Financial Services team, they also contribute to broader University-wide reporting and budgeting efforts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies and standards.

The successful candidate will bring a high level of financial acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate financial insights effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders. This position is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week.

  • Provide analysis and recommendations on the Faculty’s financial performance and contribute to institutional reporting.

  • Review and provide recommendations on process improvements within the Faculty.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and support the library’s risk management, contract administration, and hiring processes and activities, working closely with Human Resources and Facilities Management as needed.

  • Monitor event budgets and ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.
