We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Dispatcher to join our growing logistics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dispatching reefer vans and flatbeds, with proven experience managing cross-border shipments between Canada and the U.S. A thorough understanding of customs documentation and procedures is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch reefer and flatbed trucks for both domestic and cross-border routes
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, and customs brokers to ensure timely and compliant shipments
- Prepare and review customs documentation, including ACE/ACI eManifests, BOLs, and invoices
- Monitor load status and provide real-time updates to customers and internal teams
- Optimize route planning to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure on-time delivery
- Troubleshoot issues related to delays, breakdowns, or border crossings
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatched loads, fuel usage, and driver hours
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and CBSA/CBP regulations
- Collaborate with the safety and compliance teams to ensure driver and fleet readiness
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of dispatch experience in a transportation environment handling reefers and flatbeds
- Strong knowledge of cross-border operations and customs procedures (Canada–U.S.)
- Experience with TMS software and electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Familiarity with ACE/ACI manifest systems and related customs portals
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
- Bilingual (English/French or English/Spanish) is an asset
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with customs brokerage or freight forwarding
- Knowledge of freight rating and load planning
- Strong computer literacy (Excel, Outlook, TMS systems)
