We have an immediate opening for an Estimator & Business Development Specialist based in our office location in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Under the direction of the President, the Estimator & Business Development Specialist is responsible for sourcing project opportunities from bidding stage to job award within New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island. The successful candidate will be an independent self-starter who is capable of effectively building relationships and managing conflict.
Estimator & Business Development Specialist responsibilities are to provide accurate and professional quotations to Access customers, problem solve, establish strong business relationships with new customers, maintain and build strong business relationships with existing customers and work with the operations team to provide the best customer experience. Also to provide follow-up support to deal with customer issues.
Duties of the position include:
- Manage existing & develop new business in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island by initiating cold calls and identifying leads with new and existing customers.
- Review tender listings to identify bid opportunities and manage bid schedule.
- Attend to job sites to take measurements and identify site conditions affecting job scope.
- Estimate job costs and prepare bid with information provided by the customer and/or bid package documents.
- Consult & suggest alternate solutions to Customers.
- Complete material take-offs & sourcing suppliers for pricing options.
- Complete Estimates thoroughly to determine options for manhours and overall labour costs and upload to ERP system.
- Using 3D Design Estimation software program, design scaffolds to meet the needs of the access solution.
- Inform internal stakeholders of jobs awarded and coordinate sharing of any pertinent information as needed across departments.
- Participate in internal and external project and/or operational meetings as required.
- Manage job file organization and maintenance ensuring each job has complete and accurate drawings, paperwork, project notes, etc.
- Utilize existing software to develop a “boiler plate professional quotations” c/w qualifications within the company ERP / CRM system
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications / Professional Requirements
- Three to five (3-5) years of relevant technical experience in within Construction Industry and / or Manufacturing within Commercial or Industrial environments is considered an asset.
- Professional designation in Design (AET, CET, CMT) or Estimating (CEC) would be considered an asset.
- Experience in Business Development would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scaffold systems is considered an asset.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills coupled with proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Bilingualism (English & French) is considered an asset.

Conditions of Employment
- Salaried, full-time, permanent position plus commission.
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, additional hours may be required. Compensation for additional hours is included as part of annual salary.
- Group benefits & pension following 3 months of service.
- Office and Jobsite environment, In-person & onsite – hybrid remote work not possible given nature of position.
- Travel provincially with mileage reimbursement as required.
- A Company Vehicle will be provided after a successful completion of a probationary period.
