Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Equipment Person supports daily operations of the Sports Complex by assisting clients, enforcing facility policies, and coordinating equipment and venue setup. Performs minor maintenance, pool upkeep, inventory control, and responds to facility issues and emergencies.
Primary Responsibilities:

- Provides general information to Sports Complex users concerning services offered by Athletics & Recreation. Verifies membership status and applies access policies for the Sports Complex. Liaises with internal and external service providers, directing them to areas requiring services or repairs. Informs clients of building regulations. Informs security regarding inappropriate actions or behaviour of clients.
- Distributes and lends out equipment, keys and supplies as per unit protocol. Stores and returns lost and found items.
- Follows up on overdue equipment, performs select locker program operations and provides clients with locker program information.
- Sets up equipment and prepares venues for campus recreation activities, varsity games/practices, rentals and kinesiology and physical education activities.
- Performs general pool maintenance tasks as per defined protocols.
- Performs laundry and laundry related tasks.
- Stores and handles water treatment products used for pool maintenance and industrial laundering products. Some products are labelled as hazardous materials.
- Verifies inventory and informs supervisor when supplies are needed. Monitors and up-dates keys inventory. Receives, logs and distributes incoming deliveries. As needed, informs staff via e-mail and/or telephone regarding respective deliveries.
- Performs maintenance and minor repairs not requiring certification to sports and recreation related equipment. When required, performs facility related tasks not requiring certification and not altering the integrity of the building, such as hanging banners, repositioning dislodged ceiling tiles and assembling office furniture. Circulates within the Sports Centre and conducts daily visual inspections. Responds to facility and equipment malfunctions and reports issues to the supervisor.
- Drives vehicles for deliveries, stock transfers and errands.
- Uses equipment such as hand truck, hydraulic platform (jigger), trolley, gator, scissor lift etc., for the handling and moving of materials and supplies and performing other daily responsibilities.
- Assists with building evacuation and other emergency situations. Provides directions and information to emergency services personnel.
- Upon hiring of new employees, participates in their training.
- Temporarily performs the tasks of an equal or lower-rated position whenever required.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- High School Leaving Diploma.
- Three (3) months related experience required.
