Position Description
The Epic Training Specialist will use their adult education experience and skills to effectively develop, communicate and deliver Epic training curriculum. The Epic Training Specialist will work closely with other project team members, as well as clinical and non-clinical staff to gain a thorough understanding of the system and the associated workflows to ensure a comprehensive training approach. The Epic Training Specialist will also provide leadership and direction to classroom-based instructors. To ensure comprehensive system understanding, the Epic Training Specialist will participate fully in gathering and analyzing information and specifications regarding clinical practices/workflows and business processes; configuring aspects of the system; testing the system; developing and documenting policies and procedures that will support use of the system.
Here's What You'll Do
- Performing in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software
- Helping Epic staff to better understand your organization's operational needs as they work with your team and end users to set the direction for your organization's workflows and system configuration
- Gaining proficiency in your organization's Epic workflows for the roles to be trained
- Developing, implementing, and instructing a role-based training program
- Building, testing, and maintaining the training environment
- Creating and maintaining the various training materials
- Training end users and additional classroom instructors
- Maintaining Epic-related policy and procedure documentation
- Monitoring and reporting training milestone achievements
- Developing training materials for system updates
- Troubleshooting problems and questions from end users
- Working with report writers to ensure that the application has the necessary reports
- Working with Epic representative, your organization's business community and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs
Here's What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in clinical discipline/health informatics/adult education or equivalent program or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of healthcare/hospital clinical, patient access, or clinical project management with basic knowledge of clinical workflows & terminology
- Solid adult education skills; developing, preparing, and delivering education
- Excellent communication with strong follow-through & follow-up skills
- Ability to probe information about the underlying needs of the organization
- Communicate effectively with project team members and subject matter experts
- Eagerness to learn the system and promote it within the organization
- Understands the importance of and demonstrates a commitment to fostering a culture of Equity Diversity and Inclusion
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio etc.)
- Aptitude to learn the software & increase knowledge over time and apply new technologies
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work equally well as a member of a team or alone to carry out project activities where resilience and creativity are essential
- Superior writing and presentation skills
- Innovative, results and detail oriented
Assets:
- Previous experience with Epic and/or Epic certification
- Previous project/systems implementation experience
