Currently our Toronto office is seeking an Environmental coordinator to join us at our downtown office.
This role is for an Environmental engineer or E.I.T, who will have direct responsibility supporting environmental programs on our Rail\LRT projects and working with our Environmental lead.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Helping the lead to direct a team of environmental team that may include hydrogeologist, risk assessment specialist, soil and groundwater contamination and management specialist, environmental planning specialist, erosion and Sediment control, climate change and sustainability, aquatic specialist, species at risk specialist, biologist, noise and vibration etc.
- Helping the lead in the definition of subcontracts, scope, supervising submission deadlines, approval process, approving invoices and evaluation of progress.
- Ensuring environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with the agreements
- Supporting the lead in internal environmental design reviews including development of mitigation and compensation proposals, acceptable to the Province and Environmental Authorities
- Supporting the lead in implementing the environmental management plans and monitoring and verifying compliance with the requirements of such plans
- Supporting the lead in implementing environmental quality management systems and procedures in collaboration with the Quality Manager responsible for the Environmental Quality Management Plan
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of demonstrated experience in Environmental engineering preferably on Rail or large infrastructure projects
- Experience in permitting and or noise & vibration is a strong asset
- Knowledge of the Province of Ontario’s Transit Project Assessment Process, GO Transit and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario)
- Effective communication and organization skills
- Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Must have a degree in Environmental Engineering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
