Position Summary:
We are looking for an outgoing, animated, and musically skilled Early Childhood Music Teacher to join our team! The ideal candidate has a strong singing voice, can accompany on and teach introductory piano skills, and understands music theory. Ability to play ukulele or guitar is a strong asset. You must love working with young children and be comfortable leading group classes with enthusiasm, energy, and creativity!
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead early childhood group music classes for children aged 4–6 as well as Toddler Music classes ages newborn to 2 years.
- Follow our established Verellen Music Academy curriculum.
- Arrive fully prepared to teach the assigned lesson for each class.
- Sing and play piano (and ideally ukulele/guitar) to accompany class activities.
- Incorporate age-appropriate music theory and movement into lessons.
- Create a warm, engaging, and positive classroom atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with parents and VMA team members.
- Contribute to seasonal recitals and special events.
Qualifications:
- Strong vocal ability and comfort leading songs with children
- Proficient piano skills (basic ukulele or guitar a plus)
- Solid understanding of music theory
- Experience teaching or working with young children in a musical setting
- Outgoing, animated personality *with excellent, confident classroom presence*
- Comfortable teaching in a group setting
- Reliable, organized, and committed to consistent lesson preparation
Bonus if you have:
- Training in early childhood education, Orff, Kodály, or similar methods
- Background in musical theatre or performance
- A portfolio of lesson plans or music activities
