The Opportunity
We are seeking a transportation engineer with strong technical skills and a growing foundation in project coordination or management, who is eager to take the next step in developing as a project leader.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering impactful transportation projects - from early planning through execution. Working alongside experienced and multidisciplinary teams, you’ll keep projects on track, within budget, and aligned with client goals. From traffic studies to long-range planning and innovative design, your expertise will fuel smart, practical solutions. You'll be the trusted voice translating complex technical data into clear, actionable strategies that inform decisions, engage stakeholders, and move communities forward. This position is Calgary based and offers the flexibility of remote work.
What You’ll Do
- Complete assigned routine drafting duties using computer-assisted design (CAD). Create accurate drawings which follow project specific standards and guidelines.
- Follow established practices and techniques to produce, edit, and modify standard drawings with technical accuracy from preliminary data provided by the Project Manager or Sr. Draftsperson.
- Establish good rapport and build relationships with peers by responding to requests and communicating information in a timely manner.
- Comply with all company policies including safety policies and WCB regulations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology or similar program, plus up to 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities and a willingness to work independently in a high-performing team atmosphere.
- The ability to work with AutoCAD/Civil3D to a high degree of proficiency, experience with Trimble Business Center is also beneficial.
- Strong understanding of survey methodology and data handling with ability to review and understand survey field notes to provide feedback to crews and project managers with data insights.
- Ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $78,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
