Overview
The Kitchen Helper plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting. This position involves assisting cooks and chefs with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting various kitchen tasks to enhance efficiency and uphold food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service and a desire to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment.
Duties
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly.
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces and equipment.
- Organize and store cleaned items properly to ensure easy access and safety.
- Operate dishwashing machine, ensuring it is functioning correctly and performing routine maintenance.
- Sort and stack clean dishes, utensils, and pots in designated areas.
- Assist in food preparation by chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes as directed by the cook or chef.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
- Help with cooking tasks as needed, ensuring that all food is prepared according to safety guidelines and recipes.
- Organize and store food supplies efficiently to ensure easy access during meal preparation.
- Support the kitchen staff during busy periods by helping with various tasks as required.
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and kitchen operations.
- Maintain cleanliness of guests & employee restrooms, and other common areas.
Skills
- Experience in food preparation or cooking is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
- Knowledge of food handling practices and safety standards in a kitchen environment.
- Strong cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic workspace.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is a plus but not required.
