The Director of Business Management collaborates closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Operations leadership team to drive operational excellence within the organization. As a culture carrier, strategic thinker, and leader, the Director is responsible for enhancing the Operations mandate and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role involves working with internal and external partners to execute the Operations strategy through effective planning, management, and monitoring of specific objectives. They will provide executive-level advice and guidance on business resilience, crisis management, and operational best practices. This role requires a strong focus on governance, thought leadership, and influencing positive outcomes to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence at IMCO. Key focus areas include developing and implementing Operations strategy and roadmap, overseeing workforce management, implementing talent strategies, and managing financial resources to support operational success.
As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For:
Accountability
  • Business Planning and Portfolio Management
    • Plan, manage, and facilitate the completion of annual business planning processes for operational objectives, including alignment with organization-wide initiatives.
    • Develop and manage capacity planning, including intake processes for organizational work impacting operations and the implications for operational capacity planning.
    • Ensure consistent application of governance and control frameworks across operational departments and projects, leading continuous improvement initiatives based on governance activities.
    • Track operational objectives set by the leadership team throughout the year, focusing on client success, culture enhancement, and talent development.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop the overall operational strategy and manage and monitor activities that drive successful strategy execution into an actionable roadmap.
  • Financial Management
    • Scale operational budget and forecasting to support strategic decision-making on an annual basis.
    • Provide ongoing oversight of operational cost center budgets and serve as a centralized control function for all operational departments.
    • Plan, manage, and monitor internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Centralize the creation of statements of work (SOWs), contracts, requisitions, and procurement-related activities.
  • Performance Measurement and Communication
    • Develop and oversee key communications and reporting, including monthly and quarterly reports, KPIs, and other key metric reporting.
    • Prepare operational submissions for executive reports and board memos, in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Enablement and Strategy
    • Identify challenges and opportunities, develop and implement effective solutions, and support informed decision-making to address emerging issues, positioning the role as a trusted advisor and key resource within the organization.
    • Contribute to the development of operational strategy and roadmap aligned with business planning objectives.
    • Act as a trusted reliable resource and sounding board for team leaders, supporting views through experience, research and clear communication. Provide timely, strategic information and advice to support Management’s decision-making.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for audits and compliance programs, ensuring end-to-end compliance with IMCO and regulatory standards.
    • Establish linkages with risk, compliance, and internal stakeholders, identifying and addressing governance gaps across operational verticals.
  • Vendor Management
    • Oversee the operational vendor framework, maintaining a roster of vendors and tracking costs and budgeting.
    • Provide technical insights on renewals, contract costs, key issues, data management, and project-specific contract clauses.
What do you need to succeed?
Know-How:
  • 10-15 years of experience in business management, with a focus on operations, ideally within a small to midsize organization, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in investment management, asset management, or financial services is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and monitor complex budgets.
  • Experience in performance measurement, including the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Proven track record of delivering business results, fostering creativity, demonstrating individual initiative, and motivating teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Detail-oriented with a deep understanding of operations within the organization.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues before they escalate.
  • Proficient in using a data-driven approach to analyze and improve projects.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability in stakeholder management.
  • Interest in continuous upskilling for the digital world and staying up to date on emerging technology trends, with a willingness to learn new tools and embrace process improvements for enhanced agility, efficiency, and automation.
