Job Description
Direct Support Worker - Complex Needs is directly accountable to the Supervisor of Direct Supports to provide specialized supports and assistance to individuals person(s) who have unique, challenging support needs.
HOURS OF WORK
Every Other Saturday and Sunday from 1 PM - 9 PM
There may be some variation in this schedule required from time to time as dictated by operational requirements and the needs of the individuals.
In this position you will implement positive behavioral interventions and intensive supports in order to facilitate optimal outcomes for individuals with complex support needs. With a mindset in the potential of everyone to make contributions to the community, the Direct Support Worker is creative, flexible, kind, compassionate and able to contribute to a supportive team.
You will confidently provide front line, face to face support to adults with developmental disabilities, including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Addictions, Trauma and other diagnoses who have varying challenges. With a proven ability to work with mental health concerns, self-harming behaviors and high risk tendencies, you have the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations. Using a foundation of trauma informed care approaches and with a positive attitude, you will use your highly developed behavioral intervention skills to provide intense support to implement intervention plans that will facilitate the optimal functioning of individuals with complex support needs.
Successful candidates are expected to provide supports across multiple environments which will promote personal growth, independence and increase social inclusion and to complete such duties ensuring that services provided are of the maximum possible benefit to the individual(s) and that services are operated in accordance with standards as set down by Etana, Disability Services and CARF Accreditation Standards.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Two years experience working with complex needs individuals.
- Experience working with individuals with FASD, addictions, trauma and mental health issues.
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.
- Emergency First Aid /CPR certification
- Class 5 drivers license and reliable vehicle

- Maintain skills in computing and communication technology as chosen and utilized by Etana
- Social Role Valorization
- Training in support approaches for individuals with FASD is an asset

Pay: $19.77-$24.17 per hour
