The incumbent in this position will work under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager. The Direct Care Worker is responsible for providing, assisting with, and/or monitoring the personal care of residents, as well as supporting and overseeing household activities as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role or care setting. A positive attitude and a compassionate, kind demeanor are essential qualities for success in this position.

Experience:
- A minimum of two years experience, including volunteer service, working with challenged children or adults or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
A suitable candidate has the:
- Ability to function effectively within the Constitution and Bylaws of The Cridge Centre for the Family.
- Knowledge of the effects of traumatic brain injury in adults and the relevant medications/side effects.
- Ability to be an active listener and to problem-solve.
- Ability to respond effectively and calmly in all situations.
Ability to treat clients, staff and other professionals with dignity and respect at all times, which is an inalienable right.
- Understanding of the importance of in-service training and professional development.
Education and Training:
- A 10-month Community Support Worker Certificate or certification in relevant courses in the health care filed or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Certification/Licensing:
- Current CPR & First Aid Certificate
- Current Criminal Record Check
- Fire Safety Training
