We are currently looking for a Cycle Counter to join Desco and be part of our dynamic team in our Distribution Centre located at 7550 Tranmere Drive, Mississauga, ON.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Receiving Supervisor, the Cycle Counter will be an integral component of the operations team by providing accurate details of inventory records. This position will be responsible for ensuring daily inventory counting and verifying inventory items, reconciling any discrepancies, and updating inventory records in the warehouse management system. The role will also play a part in identifying and resolving inventory inaccuracies, assisting with audits, and contributing to process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and ensure alignment with system records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and recorded quantities, making adjustments as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records within the company’s inventory management system.
- Process inventory adjustments resulting from cycle counts, audits, or other inventory-related activities.
- Communicate inventory levels, discrepancies, and related issues to the appropriate team members in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all assigned areas.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and material handling guidelines.
- Operate material handling equipment as required for the role.
- Utilize RF scanning equipment effectively.
- Participate in annual branch inventories as required.
- Participate in all other warehouse operations and activities as outlined based on business needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use required protective equipment.
- Report any hazards, defective equipment, or contraventions to the employer or supervisor.
- Maintain safety protocols by not removing protective devices and avoiding unsafe practices or conduct.
WHAT YOU OFFER
- 1-2 years experience in cycle counting or similar position.
- Certified forklift operator (Raymond Reach and Order Picker), with minimum one (1) year of operating experience.
- Previous experience in the plumbing and heating industry.
- Previous experience with RF Scanners and working RF bar code.
- Computer skills, Basic MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- System knowledge, Mincron and Manhattan.
- Good communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
