The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth operation, administration, and student support for UNIV 001, a non-credit academic course delivered through the University’s online learning platform. The Course Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating the course site (UR Courses), managing routine communications with students, tracking student progress and course completion, coordinating timely grade submission to Banner, and supporting the academic integrity of the course. This role contributes directly to the University’s academic success and student support priorities by ensuring that learners receive timely information, experience minimal technical disruption, and are guided toward successful course completion. The position supports the Associate Vice-President (Academic) in fulfilling institutional commitments related to the delivery and integrity of the course.

What You’ll Do:
- Maintain and update the course site in UR Courses (Moodle) each term to ensure accurate, accessible, and current information for students.
- Revise the course syllabus each term to reflect any changes to expectations, timelines, or course structure.
- Respond to student inquiries to ensure clarity around course requirements and processes and to support student success.
- Identify and troubleshoot student issues related to course navigation, access, or technical errors, referring cases to Information Services when needed to minimize barriers to completion.
- Monitor student progress throughout the term by reviewing system-generated reports and identifying students at risk of non-completion in order to initiate timely communications and reminders.
- Send scheduled and ad hoc messages to students throughout the term to reinforce expectations, provide key dates, and encourage course completion.
- Compile and analyze data from the learning management system (UR Courses) to track trends in completion, engagement, and academic performance across terms.
- Transfer final course grades into the University’s student information system (Banner) to ensure timely and accurate recording of academic outcomes.
- Report suspected academic misconduct to the student’s Faculty or College and notify the Associate Vice-President (Academic) to uphold academic integrity standards.
- Refer students to appropriate academic and non-academic supports when needed to promote student well-being and academic success.

What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in student support, academic administration, or related roles in a higher education setting is an asset.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
