Course Description: Competency-based discipline skills and methods of classroom management, emphasizing the relationship between theory and practice; the rationale for various approaches to classroom management; strategies for developing instruction that focus attention and reduce off-task behaviour.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education
- Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
- Teaching degree or equivalent.
Experience
- Experience teaching in elementary/secondary schools.
- Experience teaching as a specialist (e.g. music, TESL) in elementary/secondary schools for section reserved for B.Ed. TESL, B.Ed. Music students.
- Expert knowledge of course content.
- Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP).
- Familiarity with the 13 Professional Competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
- Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary/secondary school system an asset.
- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers an asset.
- Familiarity with myCourses and Zoom or similar online course and meeting platforms an asset.
Other
- Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.
