Join our team as a Corporate Accounting & Treasury Intern at our Head Office in Burnaby, BC.
Reporting to both the Corporate Accounting and Treasury teams, this internship provides valuable exposure to BCAA’s financial reporting processes, internal controls, and treasury operations. The successful candidate will support accurate and timely financial reporting, while also assisting in the day-to-day management of banking activities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
The Corporate Accounting and Treasury intern will work closely with all finance team members and assist on special projects as required. The ideal candidate is required to have a basic understanding of general accounting principles and a high level of attention to detail, especially when handling banking and treasury related transactions with material financial impact. This role has a dual reporting structure with the candidate directly reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and separately to the Assistant Manager, Treasury.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (2 days on-site). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.

What you'll do:
Financial Reporting
- Assist Corporate Accounting team with month-end journal entries and account reconciliations as required
- Assist in creating and maintaining detailed documentation of financial reporting controls within
Corporate Accounting, Treasury, and Financial Operations
- Compile information to be included in process narratives, including processes for month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Assist with internal and external audits and other month-end close related processes
Treasury and Financial Operations
- Assist with invoice matching and purchase order reconciliation
- Review and validate Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) requests
- Follow up with vendors to resolve outstanding invoices and missing documentation
- Perform follow ups on outstanding receivables, assist with invoice processing and conduct account reconciliations as required
Special Projects, Other Duties and Continued Development
- Provide back up to Corporate Accounting team members
- Participate in special projects as assigned by the Corporate Accounting and Treasury team
What you'll bring:
- Enrollment in Business/Commerce with a concentration in Finance/Accounting from a recognized university
- Strong personal computer skills with an emphasis on the use of spreadsheet
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both written and oral).
- Flexible and deadline-oriented to undertake special projects as required.
- Teamwork and project management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
The hourly range for this position is $24.95 to $28.07 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity.
