As an Accounting Clerk, you'll play a key role in ensuring our vendor payments and contracting records are accurate, timely, and well-maintained.
A typical day for the Accounting Clerk
- Receive and sort incoming mail and invoices.
- Enter vendor and contract invoices, expense claims, and purchasing card transactions into Unit 4 ERP.
- Process payments for vendors on a weekly basis (cheques, EFTs, and wire transfers).
- Maintain the contracts module, which tracks contracts, service agreements, payments, and status.
- Monitor the bank account and update bank transactions daily.
- Advise Alberta Pensions Services Corporation (APS) staff on compliance with policies and procedures regarding accounts payable and contracting.
- Act as the purchasing card coordinator.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Digitally maintain organized accounts payable documentation.
- Provide quality customer service, internally and externally, as well as interact with vendors.
- Diploma with three years of directly related accounts payable processing experience;
- Certificate with four to five years of directly related accounts payable processing experience; or
- High School diploma with five or more years of directly related accounts payable processing experience.
- Proficiency in commonly utilized ERP software is required. Unit 4 considered an asset.
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Docusign.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent customer service skills, especially in a professional financial setting.
- Good time management skills, prioritization, and multitasking.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
