The Fickle Fig Farm Market is looking for experienced, professional and dedicated team players with outstanding kitchen skills to join our expanding team to assist in culinary prep, and delivery driving.
As a member of the kitchen team with a passion for quality, local and seasonal food you will work under the kitchen manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the preparation, cooking, taste and presentation are consistent and of the highest standard.
A rare opportunity which only comes once every several years. This is a unique kitchen where you will decide the menu each day using the freshest ingredients from our farm partners around the Saanich Peninsula. You will prepare savory foods from scratch each day including sandwiches, pizza and salads as well as the sauces and stocks used within the dishes, including extruding fresh pasta. You will be using creativity and ingenuity to create a seasonal and dynamic menu while highlighting our own produce, with guidance from the kitchen manager.
We are somewhat flexible for what shifts and days of the week we can offer. We hire year round, and are open from 7am - 5pm daily.
Skills and experience required:
-At least some experience working in a commercial kitchen.
-Class 5 Driver's license (minimum N), and comfort driving the small company van between locations for drop off and pick up of orders multiple times a day.
-Positive personality with the ability to work well under pressure.
-Efficient work ethic.
-High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
-Be able to work independently.
-Be willing and eager to learn.
-Be a problem solver.
-Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
-Valid Food Safe certification, or willingness to procure one.
Successful candidates must complete a paid probationary period of three months.
