AutoCity Sales & Auto 9000 Sales is looking for a Controller to spearhead our Accounting Department. We are searching for an experienced and productive accounting professional to oversee the financial activities of this dealership, with the possibility to grow. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing the dealership’s accounting including payroll, preparing, and analyzing financial statements and driving continuous improvement in our financial and operational processes. As a forward-thinking organization once systems are in place and work is finished beyond expectation we are comfortable allowing a hybrid schedule.
AutoCity Sales and Auto 9000 Sales is a rapidly growing Pre-Owned Sales Group, looking to expand our sales force and accounting staff.
Job Summary:
As the Controller, you will be responsible for managing the dealership’s accounting department, producing accurate financial reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting senior management with actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting operations: A/P, A/R, payroll, bank reconciliation, and general ledger
- Prepare monthly financial statements and internal reports
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with dealership policies and regulations
- Oversee cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
- Reconcile floorplans, inventories, schedules, and manufacturer statements
- Supervise and train accounting staff
- Preparing all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by the General Manager & CEO including, but not limited to, monthly reconciliations, monthly and quarterly reporting, financial analysis, year-end reporting, etc.
- Completing analysis or requests made by the Senior Leadership and/or General Manager.
- Work closely with the General Manager and department heads to support business decisions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 2+ years of accounting experience in an automotive dealership.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with dealership management systems (CDK, Dealertrack, etc.)
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local dealership regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Overall:
- Ensure tax and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare accounts for payment and verify data in system.
- Follow up on past due accounts and returned checks.
- Post deals.
- Post invoices.
- Reconcile statements.
- Disburse cheques.
