Assistant Finance Controller- Thales Canada Inc

Position Summary
As a key member of the Finance team, the Assistant Finance Controller will be actively involved in all accounting and finance activities reporting to the Financial and Tax Controller.
Key Areas of Responsibility
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING & REPORTING
- Manage the General Accounting function for the respective unit
- Ensure compliance with Thales accounting and reporting policies and procedures are in line with IFRS principles
- Ensure accurate financial reporting to Thales Corporate headquartered in Paris, France
- Provide guidance on accounting treatment for complex, operational requirements
- Recommend, develop, and implement changes in financial reporting, accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency
- Manage/support processes for Corporate Canada and liaise with country finance shared services leads (AP, AR, financial reporting etc.)
when necessary
- Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of financial systems and reporting tools. Ensure the integrity of SAP to support the reliability of financial reporting (chart of accounts, functional areas, cost center maintenance, approval workflows etc.)
- Prepare and defend financial statements, supplementary schedules and reports; ensure they are accurate, valid and complete within prescribed submission deadlines
- Provide support on a variety of complex projects in all fields of finance, as needed
TAXATION
- Support annual Income Tax filings with external tax advisor and Corporate
- Coordinate Transfer Pricing documentation for the unit with Country Tax Lead and Tax Controller
- Maintain tax documentation in respect of procedures, filing requirements, returns and statements
FP&A
- Lead the preparation of timely and accurate variance analysis with comments on actuals vs. budget and forecasts
- Actively participate in monthly review meetings with Management
OTHER
- The position will also have the responsibility to participate in key Corporate Country Finance activities for Canada and assist the Finance team with any other country finance tasks as required under the supervision of the Financial and Tax Controller.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA) or in the final stages of obtaining the designation is required
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within an accounting firm or a multinational organization
At least 3 years of experience with accounting and reporting policies and procedures are in line with IFRS principles
At least 2 years of experience preparing and defending financial statements
Prior experience with supporting enterprise functions with daily transactions of AP, AR etc. and liaise with finance shared services leads to process daily transactions
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles
Knowledge of the Canada tax legislation
Good organizational skills, attention to detail and respect for the work methodology
Ability and interest to use each opportunity to improve working methods and tools
Ability to be a team player while also being able to be autonomous once up to speed
Able to demonstrate flexibility with job duties and scope of work

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between
Total Target Cash (TTC): 74,214.00 - 98,952.00 - 129,645.55 CAD AnnualThis reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills, and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity.
