About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Content Lead (Copywriter) to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team.
If you’re a strategic storyteller who combines copywriting craft with creative leadership, this role is for you. You’ll shape the voice of national campaigns, guide writers on our team, and bring our brand voice to life across every channel.
Reporting to the Manager, Creative Studio, you’re not just a writer; you’re a strategic thinker and creative force. From a 15-second ad to a donor testimonial, a social caption to a long-form video, you bring clarity, purpose and emotion to every word.
As Lead Copywriter, you’ll guide the voice and tone of our marketing efforts across platforms, ensuring everything we put into the world is clear, compelling and rooted in purpose. Your writing will drive action, build trust and elevate our brand across national campaigns and internal initiatives.
You’ll also be a hands-on leader providing mentorship and direction to writers, collaborating closely with designers and creative partners and helping build a culture of high creative standards.

- Leadership in copywriting. You’ve mentored writers, set high creative standards and know how to guide both projects and people.
- A sharp instinct for brand voice. You can bring a defined strategy to life, keeping tone and messaging consistent while making space for creativity and connecting emotionally with your audience.
- Strength in storytelling. You synthesize complex ideas into clear, compelling, audience-first messages. From interviewing a donor to capturing a patient’s experience to shaping a campaign message, you know how to draw out emotion and make it compelling while resonating with your audience.
- A clear understanding of how copy supports and enhances design. You work closely with the Creative Lead to deliver cohesive, unified and intentional content.
- Hands-on copywriting expertise across formats. From ads and social posts to email campaigns, scripts and long-form storytelling, you adapt tone and structure to fit the platform and audience.
- Performance-driven writing. You blend creativity with performance, using data, SEO insights, KPIs and audience research to shape content that connects and converts.
- Fluency in platform-specific content for social. You know how to write for each medium and its audience.
- Strength in both long-form and short-form writing.
- Collaboration mindset. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, working closely with designers and cross-functional teams to deliver unified, intentional creative.
Desired education and skills
- Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is essential, preferably in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing.
- Minimum five (5) years of Marketing communications-related experience; minimum of three (3) years' within a Senior writing role.
- Healthcare and/or biopharma or agency experience is an asset.
- Proven ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling content across multiple formats, with a sharp eye for storytelling, brand voice and audience impact.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office apps and Adobe Acrobat.

- Shift/hours - Monday to Friday days, 37.5 hours a week, 7.5 hours a day.
