Caregiver/Companion
Part-Time, Monday - Saturday
Hours: 2pm - 6pm
Wages: Hourly $25
Looking for a friendly, outgoing person to provide social support to a male patient who has an acquired traumatic brain injury from a car accident.
Responsibilities:
- Provide patient with friendly conversation and companionship, help with math, reading, and writing, play games, and encourage mental activities
- Accompany patient on social outings such as: the movies, the coffee shop, planned events (bowling, dancing) for disabled folks
- Accompany patient to appointments such as Physio & Massage, when applicable
- Assist patient with physical activities: walks, stairs, and stretching, light exercise to maintain strength
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation (own personal vehicle)
- Must have recent Vulnerable Sector & Criminal Record Check or be willing to obtain within 48 hours
- Must be physically strong to help patient back up if they fall down
- Must be comfortable being around people and in new social situations
- Compassionate, outgoing, and patient personality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
